Automatic Soap Dispenser
One of the practical ways to have a germ-free environment is to have an automatic soap dispenser. With this device, it is easier for anyone to gain access to a hygienic, convenient, and evenly dispensed soap. Because there is no need for one to touch the dispenser, the spread of bacteria or germs is lesser. This is especially useful and true if the device is installed in public areas.
It was in 1989 when Guey-Chaun Shiau requested for a patent on his invention called the "Automatic Cleaning-liquid Dispensing Device" which is more popularly known as the automatic soap dispenser today. His request for a patent on his creation was granted in 1991. Since then, more and more people or businesses are now using this type of soap dispensing device. This is because there are several advantages that one can get from having such item in your home or business.
One of these advantages is the convenience a hands free soap dispenser can give to its user. It can be easily installed in any place it is needed. Apart from this, there would be no need for the user to pump the dispenser. All the user needs to do is put his hands where the sensor can detect it and it instantly releases the soap. An automatic soap dispenser also promotes proper hygiene. Illnesses that can be obtained and easily spread by touching can be avoided. In addition to the advantages mentioned, the use of this type of dispenser also reduces wastage. This is because the amount of soap that it gives out is evenly measured. Last but not the least, an automatic soap dispenser is not only used for liquid or foam hand soaps. It can also be utilized for other liquids such as hand sanitizers, liquid detergents, lotions, shampoo, other cleaning products, etc.
Operating by the use of power supply, an automatic soap dispenser is powered via a plug attached to the device or some can be used with a battery. To use the device, one would place his hands under the sensor and nozzle. Once the dispenser has detected the hands, it will then release the soap in an even amount. The motion sensor installed in this device varies. It can be a radar based sensor, photo sensor, or passive infrared sensor. A radar based sensor uses microwave and ultrasound energy. Once this energy that is emitted by the device detects irregularity, it dispenses the soap needed. Irregularity is said to happen when hands are placed where the sensor is and the energy it releases bounces back. Another type of sensor used is one that contains photo sensors. These photo sensors have a ray of light that activates the release of soap when disrupted by placing ones hands. Lastly, there is passive infrared sensor. With this sensor infrared coming from body heat is detected and sends out signals that the device needs to discharge soap.
Automatic soap dispensers are an affordable way to promote sanitation and because anyone can easily afford getting the device, it is not only installed in hospitals, laboratories, work and public areas. An increasing number of households are also now using this type of dispenser. It saves them cost in buying soap due to the measured disposal feature the device has. With easy access to soap, kids can be taught on how to keep themselves germ-free through hand washing.
One must consider different factors when purchasing an automatic dispenser. First is its purpose, what soap or liquid are you going to put in it. The liquid that the dispenser will contain will determine the material the device should be made of. If you will be filling it with alcohol based liquids and using it primarily as a touch free hand sanitizer dispenser then it is best not to choose a stainless steel made dispenser in this case. Remember to always keep in mind to check labels and warnings when buying a dispenser. Other factors to consider are the amount of soap it dispenses, the quantity of soap it can contain, its durability, place where it will be installed, how easy is the installation, its design, and a lot more. In this way, one can easily find the proper dispenser needed and be able to enjoy using it to the fullest.
Available in different types, you can select your automatic soap dispenser from wall mounted, counter mounted, and stand alone. Wall mounted dispensers are best for people who are into saving space. This type usually comes with mounting brackets or adhesive for easy installation. On the other hand, if one would want to have a dispenser that is at the same time can be decorative, best option is to get a counter mounted or a stand-alone type. These types are usually designed in a way that drips of soaps can easily fall into the sink or the dispenser itself has its own drip bowl. Because of this, you do not only get clean hands but clean counters as well.
